# Vertical slides

Vertical slides let you place supporting material beneath a main slide, creating optional branches without interrupting the horizontal flow of your presentation. Your audience can move down to view the additional slides or continue horizontally to skip them.

## Add vertical slides

Open the slide that should sit at the top of the stack, then select the **Add vertical slide** button below the canvas. Additional vertical slides are added beneath the current horizontal slide.

## Choose a navigation mode

Open the presentation **Settings** panel and use **Navigation mode** to control how viewers move between horizontal and vertical slides. This setting has no effect on presentations without vertical slides.

- **Default** uses the left and right arrows for horizontal slides and the up and down arrows for vertical slides.
- **Linear** uses the left and right arrows to step through every slide, including vertical slides.
- **Grid** lets viewers move directly between adjacent vertical slides while preserving the presentation's grid structure.
