# Bring a PDF or PowerPoint into Slides

[Canonical article](https://slides.com/docs/import-from-pdf-or-powerpoint)

You can import PDF and PowerPoint files into Slides. Imported pages are converted to images, so their original text and elements cannot be edited individually. You can still add, remove, and rearrange slides around the imported content.

To move in the opposite direction, [export a Slides presentation to PowerPoint](/docs/export-to-powerpoint).

Here's how to import a presentation:

1. Create a new deck.
2. Open the **Import** panel in the editor's left sidebar.
3. Select a PDF, PPT, or PPTX file to upload.

Large presentations may take a few minutes to process. Import files are limited to 100 MB.

## Troubleshooting PowerPoint imports

If a `.ppt` or `.pptx` file does not import correctly, export it from PowerPoint as a PDF and import the PDF instead.

## Import options
Once your import has finished processing you'll see an overview of the slides you are about to import. You can click on any slide thumbnail to exclude it from the import.

Imported slides will replace the current presentation by default. If you'd prefer appending the new imported slides to the end make sure to check the "Append slides" option.
