# Set up the grid and snapping guides

[Canonical article](https://slides.com/docs/grid-guide-settings)

The grid in the editor background helps keep content balanced and aligned. When a block moves or resizes near a grid line, it snaps into place. Configure this behavior in the editor settings at the bottom of the sidebar.

See [Block layout and shortcuts](/docs/slide-layout) for more about moving, resizing, aligning, and selecting blocks.

## Options

- **Grid:** Show or hide the grid.
- **Snap:** Snap blocks to the grid and neighboring blocks.
